| STEP 1 | Jack up the car and put it on Jackstands. Be sure that the rear wheels are off the ground so while doing the job the wheel are able to turn. |
| STEP 2 | Drain out all of the transmission fluid. |
| STEP 3 | Place a jack under the transmission pan to support it, and remove the four cross memeber bolts. It will be hanging on the rubber support. Check it while you are there because it may need replacing. |
| STEP 4 | Take out the two support bolts at the transmission and remove the cross memeber. |
| STEP 5 | Remove the gearlever linkage by taking out the pin or clip to get it out of the way. |
| STEP 6 | Take out the four driveshaft bolts from the flange. Check for any play or looseness in the shaft, if there is any play your going to have to replace the seal and bushing. |
| STEP 7 | With the transmission in park, remove the center bolt from the flange and pull the flange off. |
| STEP 8 | Remove the six tail shaft bolts. |
| STEP 9 | Tap the tail shaft housing carefully with a rubber hammer and remove the tailshaft housing. |
| STEP 10 | Clean the housing and where the housing meets up to the transmission of any gaskets or sealant. Make sure that all of it has been removed or it will leak. |
| STEP 11 | Now just press out the old bushing and seal and replace it with the new seal and bushing. If you are unable to do this, a local transmission shop should be able to do this for you. |
| STEP 12 | Put silicon on the gasket and stick it to either the transmission housing or the tailshaft housing. It may help to apply transmission fluid around the shaft to make it easier install the tailshaft housing while the shaft is in place. |
| STEP 13 | Now put in the six bolts but do not tighten all the way. |
| STEP 14 | Install the center bolt in the shaft and tourqe it to the recommended specs. |
| STEP 15 | Tourqe the six bolts for the housing to spec. |
| STEP 16 | Connect the gear lever linkage back with the pin or clip. |
| STEP 17 | Reinstall the drive shaft with the four bolts. |
| STEP 18 | Install the cross member to the transmission then to the chassis. Remember to put spacers back where they go if there is any. |
| STEP 19 | Take the jack out from under the transmission pan and lower the vehicle. |
| STEP 20 | Add the approximate amount that came out when drained drive the car for a short distance and re-check the fluid and fill in necessary. |
